| My desire for the association is to unite the family, provide lifetime friendships, and to trace our family history. Each year when I tell my friends that I am going to my family reunion they are amazed. They find it hard to believe that so many family members gather each year and that we have had annual reunions for over 60 vears.
The main responsibility of the President is to preside over the annual reunion. Even before the reunion occurs though the President communicates with the current year's reunion hosts to verify that everything is in order and that all our reunion requirements will be met. At the reunion the president presides over the four official meetings. The president also appoints a number of committees each year to: receive reunion location bids, audit the financial books, nominate new, officers, and to research any other business matters that may occur. The president also consults and makes decisions with the other associati~ officers on issues that occur between reunions that must be resolved. I hope to see you at future meetings. John Lively

YOUR NEW TREASURER I am Russell Lively,3rd son of Julian & Liz Lively of the Burke County, GA Livelys. I am sorry to have missed the Asheville Reunion. My wife, Tonya, is expecting our second child on Dec.25 and she doesn't travel when pregnant. My address is 2160 Davis Ridge Road, Ringgold, GA 30736. My home phone is 706-965-8087. If you're like me and missed the 1998 reunion you can send your $15 dues to me. That will keep you on the Newsletter maiiing list and keep our treasury growing. As most of you know, one of the principal purposes of our association is genealogical research. At some point in the future I hope that we are able to publish another supplement. Having a healthy sum on hand will make this expensive effort much easier. I want to tell you all how proud I am to know who I am and where I came from. It tickles me to no end to see people's reactions when I show them our genealogy. Then I tell them of "my people", the Livelys. You can order"Livelys of America" and the "2nd Supplement" for $45 each for Christmas presents. Just contact me at the above address. Russell

Next year's reunion looks to be a great one. This is my first year as Youth V.P., so let me introduce myself. My name is Zack Lively. I reside in Augusta, GA and I'm sixteen years old. We are looking forward to the reunion coming here to Augusta. There are so many things around Augusta that might interest you. We have R~ ~nsville, where you can enjoy video games, mini golf and go-kart racing. Then for the hot days, we have Krystal River Water Park that has many water rides, as well as kiddie pools for the little ones. There are many other places to visit such as Putt Putt Golf or even just walking around the mail. Augusta has a lot to offer, especially for the youth. So come prepared to have a good time. If you know of any other fun places that need to be listed, email me at dlively~mindspring.com and I'll be sure to list them next time. NALF WEBPAGE There is very little to report about the web page at this stage. Our approach is to learn as much about the "ins and outs" of having and maintaining a web site as well as the associated cost. The best way to do this is to do this. Between now and the next reunion, we will be putting together a more limited web site on my immediate family for posting out on the web. We will probably put some mention of the NALF on this page to see what kind of response we get initially. We will let you know the address when this takes place. Some of you may want to take a peek. In the process we have already learned a great deal such as: It costs very little to "post a web page", There are ways to build a page to make it more appealing to viewers, Registering your page with "search engines" can cost but allows more people to see your page when searching for information. If you have suggestions of things you would like to see at NALF website, please drop me a line. |
